For more about this addictive new series, check out the official website.

I've been dying for this. Wait, I didn't mean that pun! Could you imagine! But I have been looking forward to this week's Blood Work Vlog - the best and smartest take on my favorite TV show, "True Blood."

Brian Juergens, the Blood Work co-chair, writes:"Inspired by Eddie, Jason and Amy's twisted little game of "vampire house", Andy and I decided this week to tie Andy to a lawnchair to discuss Episode 10 of True Blood.

Um ... it didn't go so well.

In lighter news, we were delighted to learn that this week the folks at HBO have made Blood Work the featured item on the show's official fan page. We're thrilled to be spreading our foul gospel to more fans of the show, and even more thrilled at the special presents they were kind enough to send us ... which we'll be featuring next week. If you run into any new folks in the darkened hallways of the comments section, do give them a friendly AfterElton welcome!"

Snicks over at After Elton has a recap of the tenth episode, "I Don't Wanna Know" of True Blood: "Bill goes before The Legion of Doom, Tara tries to purge the devil inside, Jason has his hands full with Eddie, and Sookie learns why Sam is always trying to lick himself. Because he can! See it all after the break!"

We also got to see a few shots of Sam's surprisingly round and meaty ass. (No pic, though. Yet. I'm still looking.) And I'll post the Blood Work vlog later in the week when it becomes available. I love those guys.

Read the spoiler-laden recap after the jump.

We start off with Sookie screaming because Sam is sleeping naked at the edge of the bed. He wakes up and groggily explains that he's a method actor, and is doing research for his role in the upcoming The Robert Downey Jr. Story.

She screams more and runs into the bathroom, where she hides in the shower and picks up a scrub stick. She shouts out "come any closer and I'll exfoliate you!", but when she looks out she sees Dean the dog, who then transforms into Sam. He says "I'm not the killer, I'm a shapeshifter". Sookie responds in the only appropriate way, by simply stating "shut the f**k up".

After Sookie calms down, Sam tries to explain everything. He has what is known as Manimal-itis, and there are thousands, if not tens of thousands of them in the world. He knows it's hereditary, but he was adopted, and the family who took him in never spoke about it (which is hard to believe, considering they show a flashback of him as his adoptive parents watch him turn into Airbud.)

Sookie asks if he can "shift" into other humans, and Sam says no, that humans are too complex an organism to imitate (but for some reason, he can do the entire cast of Gossip Girl). He can do other animals like cats and birds, but flying is hard. I was hoping he could shift into cool stuff like a winged monkey from Wizard of Oz or Ookla The Mok from Thundarr the Barbarian, but alas ... he says he needs a live animal as an "imprint."

After Elton's "Best.Gay.Week.Ever" reviews everything gay

The "True Blood" vlog "Blood Work" is late coming out this week (I think everyone is suffering from post-election fatigue), but it's worth checking out if you want to feel fully prepared for this Sunday's new episode. The Blood Work vlog really is the best breakdown of each episode of "True Blood." Um, but in this episide, just go ahead and ignore the whole cat thing. This episode runs about 13 minutes.

From After Elton: "A diverse group of queer and queer-friendly musicians came together to record an anthem in support of the Democratic party in this year's election. Ari Gold, Deepa Soul, Kevin Aviance, Homophonic vlog's Alex and many more pitched in, and it's perfect for getting you revved up to hit the polls."

I think one of the more remarkable things about this video is that so many of the performers fighting the good fight are not white. Being gay cuts across and through all other minorities, and here is a demonstration of the understanding that civil rights are civil rights. What could be used to splinter us into opposing factions is being used to do the exact opposite -- unify us.

And, yes, it's a little "We Are The World," but today is the day to we-are-the-worldify.

Now is a good time to have a brief rundown of what happened last week. How are you going to know where you're going this week (as in to vote, for example) unless you know where you've been? After Elton sums up the week with "Best.Gay.Week.Ever.:"

DO I HAVE TO LIKE THEM JUST BECAUSE THEY’RE GAY?
Here at AfterElton.com we write a lot about the small but growing pool of out celebrities. But that means writers such as myself spend a lot of time thinking about these celebrities. And you know what? I’m finding I don’t like some of them very much.

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE GAY PORN BORING?
I’m not actually admitting I’ve ever actually seen gay porn, but if I had, I might have some questions about how it’s made and what it’s like for the actors involved. And I might be curious enough to tune into here! TV’s new documentary series, Everything You Wanted to Know About Gay Porn Stars (But Were Afraid to Ask).

HOT DEMOCRATS! GET YOUR HOT DEMOCRATS HERE!
Far be it for me to tell you how to vote, but I can tell you to vote. And that if you don’t, you’re a total weenie who doesn’t deserve to ever criticize anything about this country or your state or city ever again! Incidentally, who’s the hottest male politician in America?
Plus: FOR YOUR TV-VIEWING PLEASURE reviews the best in gays on TV. Head over to After Elton and see what happened last week, in case you missed it.

After Elton, which has become my new favorite website (after this one, of course,) has an interview with the brilliant and beautiful Darryl Stephens, star of the "Noah's Arc" television series and now the movie "Noah's Arc - Jumping the Broom."

On why the show was canceled: I will say that I understand that Logo has a lot of people that they‘re trying to appeal to within the LGBTQ community. A show like Noah’s Arc is not the cheapest show to produce. Looking at a show like Shirts & Skins, it’s much more cost-effective for them to do a show like that as opposed to this big narrative with wardrobe budgets and sets and shooting in Vancouver. If they feel like they’re going to make more money on a show that doesn’t cost as much, that’s what the network is going to do.

On the treatment of gay marriage in the movie: The universe of Noah’s Arc really comes from a place where gay is not the issue. The point is that these are people who have friendships and relationships and jobs, and children and issues that everybody else has. The legal and civil rights aspect of gay marriage isn’t even our concern. We’re already established that we’ve gone out of our state to get married. That’s the one nod to how ridiculous that in the United States of America same-sex marriage is not legal in most states.

But beyond that, the movie is about . . . when you’re committing yourself to someone, you’re committing yourself to them in a lifelong loving relationship. You have to deal with all these issues about whether or not you’re ready, about whether or not this person is “the one,” whether or not your friends are going to support you. It’s not really about the fact that these are gay people. Yeah, these are gay characters, yeah, they’re black men, but they’re living the same lives that everyone else in the world is living.

Speaking of Joss Whedon, in the new issue of The Advocate, Buffy The Vampire Slayer's Tom Lenk comes out. From the interview (via After Elton):

It probably doesn't come as that big of a shock to fans of Buffy that Tom is gay, which probably isn't fair, as no doubt Lenk is capable of playing a wide-range of characters. Nonetheless, Lenk pinged quite a few gaydars including Buffy creator Joss Whedon, who told The Advocate that Andrew hadn't been planned as gay, but when Lenk auditioned they decided to take the character that way since "Tom has a bit of a fey thing going on in his persona that, you know, you can't really deny." . . . Lenk says his coming out now was supposed to be timed to coincide with his first television same-sex kiss.
I think Joss should have at least given Tom one dirty sex scene with Spike. Like the one Buffy had with the vampire when they destroyed the house. Willow and Tara were definitely great, but the gayboy geeks who loved the show could've used a little boy-on-vamp something, too. Something like "True Blood!"

After Elton has a great review of the new movie, Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom, based on the origingal Logo series Noah's Arc.

Noah’s Arc: Jumping the Broom is a ferociously funny, witty, and sexy bookend to the groundbreaking television series of the same name which aired on Logo (AfterElton.com’s parent company) for two seasons. Playing like an extended version of the most well-written and acted episode of the show, the film version successfully extends the scope of the series to fit its big-screen surroundings.

The film takes its title from slavery-era slang for getting married (a broom was literally jumped over in view of witnesses due to the lack of access to other signifiers), and also jumps forward in real time two years after the events of the Noah’s Arc series finale that found Wade and Noah inching back together after a serious motorcycle accident.
Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom opens in select cities today.

Joe Zaso, the hot and kinda scary but really smart horror actor, chats up some "True Blood" with the guy from AfterElton's Blood Work vlog:

In this week's Blood Work vlog, I'm thrilled to welcome horror himbo Joe Zaso (Barricade, Nikos the Impaler). Actually, he technically welcomes me, after last week's pecan-pie-inspired fugue sends me out into a raging storm with nothing but a candelabra to light my way. Regardless, Joe is kind enough to let me warm my bits beside his raging fake fire, and we take the opportunity to discuss this week's extra-sexy episode of "True Blood."
Check it out the video after the jump. (Just an FYI -- the player starts automatically. I'm working on getting it to not do that.)

Oh, and there are a bunch of very naked pics of Mr. Zaso floating around out there. They're not in this post at all (this post is very safe for work), but I thought you'd like to know.

After Elton's Brian Juergens "Best. Gay. Week. Ever." goes over the best and worst of this week in gayness. This Week? "A look at the terrible gay humor of Sex Drive, a Summer Heights High giveaway, and more gays on TV than you can shake a stick at!"

Including this guy from Britney's "Womanizer" video.

From After Elton's Angry Puppy Video Blog (Your Gay Guide to Sci Fi, Horror, Gaming, Tech, Comics, and Stuff We Like)":

"In this week's Angry Puppy, Marc and Lee try to talk about Heroes and The Sarah Connor Chronicles, but end up in a discussion on when and what they can forgive in sci fi writing. Also in this episode, they review the gay horror short In the Closet and Milo Ventimiglia's gore-iffic Pathology (now on DVD)."

These guys give really funny, really smart, and really dead-on critiques of all the best TV shows. They love "True Blood!"

And I learned that Milo Ventimiglia shows his butt in "Pathology."

Check out their vlog after the jump!
